The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance was started in 2011 by the Broadway Education Alliance to recognize outstanding achievement in high school arts programs throughout the greater NYC area. Originally called The Gershwin Awards, the program has since been renamed to honor the legacy of actor, director, and educator Roger Rees, whose lifelong devotion to excellence inspired generations. The Roger Rees Awards presents a diverse portfolio of honors and recognitions while focusing on providing access to resources and enrichment opportunities for high school students and educators.
